Bio
Dr. Melissa Van Cain is the Chief Medical Information Officer for OU Health in Oklahoma City, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the OU College of Medicine, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Informatics. She is a graduate of the Clinical Informatics Fellowship at Boston Childrenís Hospital where she received a Masters in Biomedical Informatics from Harvard Medical School and worked clinically as an attending in the Department of Pediatrics. As an informaticist, she uses data and informatics principles to improve the healthcare delivery system and the lives of our patients. She was previously the Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer for OU Health and served as a liaison between clinicians and the information technology team to improve the design and implementation of the electronic health record. Dr. Van Cain also holds leadership positions with the American Medical Informatics Association and the Council on Clinical Information Technology of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Van Cain received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MD from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her General Pediatrics residency at the Childrenís Hospital of Montefiore in the Bronx, NY.
